Dea creative Reader
As we move deeper into summer, I've noticed something that happens to me every year: creatively, I'm never quite as quick to change seasons as the calendar is.
While nature seems to shift almost overnight, my art journaling practice tends to linger. I find myself holding on to the colors, themes, and feelings of the previous season a little longer before I'm ready to fully embrace the next one. Over time, I've realized that this creative delay mirrors how I navigate transitions in life as well.

Season Transitions
Seasonal transitions have become an important part of my creative practice. They remind me that change isn't always immediate, and that moving from one chapter to another often requires a period of adjustment.
When a new season arrives, I rarely switch gears overnight. Instead, there is a period where I'm still deeply immersed in the current season while beginning to look ahead to the next one. I start researching the flowers that will appear in future monthly guides, gathering inspiration, and thinking about the colors and mood I want to explore in my next seasonal journal.
For a while, I find myself with one foot in each season. I'm still creating pages in my current journal while planning the next one, choosing color palettes, collecting ideas, and imagining where the creative journey will lead. Sometimes I even work in both journals at the same time
I've learned not to rush this process. The transition itself has its own rhythm. It gives me space to reflect on what I've explored during the season that is ending while slowly making room for what comes next.

Stuck in Spring
Even though summer is well underway, I still feel creatively rooted in spring.
Part of that is because I recently finished gathering all my flower research into the Spring Flower Guide, bringing together months of exploration into a single resource. As I worked on the guide, I found myself revisiting the stories, meanings, and colors of the season, which made it difficult to let spring go just yet.
My spring journal is also still open on my desk. Recently, I shared a process video featuring my Magic Magnolias spread. If you haven't seen it yet, I invite you to watch and see how the beauty and symbolism of magnolias inspired the page.
โ
Another reason I'm lingering in spring is that my first Seasonal Digital Art Journaling Kit is currently in the making. Inspired by the flowers, colors, and themes explored throughout the season, it will include a collection of creative elements designed to support your own journaling practice.
I'd love your help shaping it. If you have a moment, please take this short survey and let me know what you would most like to see included in the kit. Your feedback will help me create something that is both useful and inspiring for our creative community.

I'd love to know if you experience something similar. Do you immediately embrace a new season, or do you find yourself lingering in the one that's just passed?
For now, I'll continue enjoying these last traces of spring in my journal pages while slowly welcoming the colors, flowers, and possibilities of summer.
Until next time,
